*Recycling drop-off station - temporarily closed*

We have temporarily closed our Recycling drop-off station amid the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and encourage you to keep collecting these items with a view to being able to reinstate this service as soon as possible.

We have a recycling drop off station outside Enviro House where you can bring:

  • Plastic (#2 and #4) bottle lids and plastic caps - PLEASE NOTE: These must be clean with the white seal disc removed. Please sort these correctly into #2 or #4 bottle caps and place sorted by number in the appropriate bin. Altertativley sort all non-flip top caps under 5cm in diameter into colours (blue, green, white, black and all other colours together).
  • Plastic (#5) flip top lids (common on cosmetic bottles)
  • Plastic (#5) lids (like ice-cream containers and margarine containers - clean and label free) - PLEASE NOTE: We are currently not able to collect tubs but only the lids.
  • Black plastic (#5) meat trays (must be clean and label free) - PLEASE NOTE: Black Plastic ONLY - no other meat trays at this time.
  • Metal bottle caps and jar lids both aluminium and steel
  • Pens and marker pens
  • Oral care items - now including electric toothbrush heads, electric toothbrushes and chargers.
  • Polystyrene meat trays
  • Bread tags
  • Coffee pods (Seven Miles, Nescafe® Dolce Gusto®, L'OR & Moccona Capsules only - must be dry) - PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT TAKE NESPRESSO PODS. See www.planetark.org for drop of locations.
  • Plastic (#5) flower pots (which we also encourage you to take and reuse if you have things to plant)
  • Plant information labels and tags

Plus coffee grounds drop-off or collect

You can also still collect coffee grounds for your compost and worm farm - now neatly in a big wheelie bin!

Where is it all going to be recycled?

Where possible we have tried to find local options for some of the items that can be recycled closer to home or that can't be processed by curbside recycling. Our volunteers will be dispatching items to the following:

Precious Plastic Perth

Recycles plastic to create sustainable products to make our planet cleaner. This Perth based organisation also takes many other plastic items, which we are not able to collect here, and have drop off sites in Malaga and Welshpool. Find out more at www.preciousplasticperth.com.au

TerraCycle reuses, upcycles and recycles waste instead of incinerating or landfilling it. We collect pens and markers, oral care, and coffee pods to send to TerraCycle though their targeted recycling programs. Find out more at www.terracycle.com. You might even find a free recycling
option for your workplace or organisation.

SIMS Metal Management

We are collecting metal bottle caps and lids to take to SIMS Metal Management in Malaga for recycling. You can also drop off scrap metal direct to SIMS and they offer free recycling for televisions and e-waste. Find out more at www.simsmm.com.au

Greenbatch aims to build WA's first plastic reprocessing plant, turning PET plastic bottles into 3D printing filament for schools to build and create with. Find out more about Greenbatch drop off days in Mount Claremont and the items they collect and recycle at www.greenbatch.com

Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs

A community program where individuals and organisations collect bread tags to raise money to pay for wheelchairs for those in need in South Africa. Tags from some states are still sent to South Africa, where they are sold and turned mainly into seedling trays, but they are now also going to Transmutation in Robe, South Australia who recycle the tags into products such as door knobs and bowls. Find out more at www.facebook.com/aussiebreadtag

Envision Hands Project

The Envision Hands project recycles plastic bottle lids bound for landfill and turns them into colourful, super hero hands for children in need in Australia and around the world! Find out more at www.envision.org.au
