Q1. What are your top priorities if elected to the City of Bayswater council?

My top priorities are centred around building safer, greener, and more connected neighbourhoods:

  • Safer streets through crime reduction measures, improved lighting, and street upgrades.
  • Revitalising Morley Town Centre to boost local business, restore pride, and create a vibrant economic hub for our City.
  • Cleaner and greener suburbs , with residents having a real say in community gardens, and sustainable options.
  • Upgrading community and sporting facilities , so they can host more events, encourage active lifestyles, and bring people together.

Balanced planning and housing , ensuring developments respect neighbourhood character while supporting families and future growth.

Q2. What will you do to enable more walking and cycling in the City of Bayswater?

I strongly believe walking and cycling should be safe, practical, and enjoyable for everyone. If elected, I will:

  • Advocate for more footpaths and cycleways , especially linking schools, parks, shopping areas, and transport hubs.
  • Support initiatives to make walking and cycling safer at busy intersections and crossings , with better lighting and signage.
  • Encourage the development of green corridors that double as recreational spaces for walking and cycling, improving both connectivity and the environment.
  • Promote community awareness campaigns to highlight the health, safety, and lifestyle benefits of active transport.

Q3. What will you do to increase the City of Bayswater's tree canopy?

Protecting and expanding our green spaces is central to my vision. I will:

  • Push for ongoing tree planting programs across verges, parks, and open spaces.
  • Work with schools and community groups to deliver localised planting projects , building pride and ownership.
  • Support stricter requirements for developers to preserve mature trees and replace canopy loss through redevelopment.
  • Explore innovative ideas such as nature corridors through drainage reserves to both increase canopy and improve biodiversity.

Our City is known as " The Garden City ," and it's vital we protect and build upon this legacy. From the greens of the Embleton Golf Course to our parks, reserves, and open spaces; these natural assets must be retained, enhanced, and well cared for.

Q4. What will you do to help our community reduce emissions and support a move to renewable energy?

I am committed to practical steps that help households and the City reduce emissions and transition towards a sustainable future. This includes:

  • Supporting renewable energy initiatives for community facilities, such as solar panels on council buildings and sporting complexes.
  • Encouraging energy efficiency upgrades in homes and businesses through education and partnership programs.
  • Expanding waste reduction and recycling initiatives , including Share and Repair-style projects that extend product life and reduce landfill.
  • Advocating for greener transport options , including EV charging infrastructure and incentives for low-emission vehicles.

Promoting community education campaigns around simple, practical steps that reduce energy use and emissions at home.
